Created from abandoned Honey Bee, Hornet and Wasp dwellings, artist Ryan Metke’s sculpture series, Nests, were all, at one time, home to living creatures. Collected throughout the course of his travels, Metke forages each nest responsibly from forests, pastures and neglected structures and uses casting methods which ensure each sculpture is unique. Peeking out from beneath eaves, snugged into tight corners and clustered in unexpected interiors, Nests, like gilded relics of Mother Nature’s marvel, evoke curiosity and wonderment wherever they catch an unsuspecting eye.
